Julian Friers was born in Bangor Co. Down in 1956. Now living on the north Antrim coast, Julian is best known for his work as a wildlife painter. A past President of the Royal Ulster Academy of arts his work has been exhibited in Canada, Japan, Germany and The Netherlands with solo exhibitions in Ireland, Scotland, England, America and United Arab Emirates. A select number paintings are permanently housed in important collections in Ireland, America, and Saudi Arabia. He has been closely involved in projects with conservation organizations internationally for many years and has featured frequently in many publications worldwide. He was elected President of the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts in 2009 and his most recent collection, “Lost Irish Monsters”, was exhibited in the Ulster Museum as part of the “Dippy” exhibition which finished in January this year.
